The Army of the Dim Giant was one of the more popular and controversial outfits in the game's history. Led by DimGiant, they built a reputation both positive and negative along with a massive active roster.
But since then, the outfit has been scaled back considerably to allow the NC on Connery server more breathing room for smaller outfit growth. Instead of large platoons, there are now modest squads. As of November 2023, they've moved servers and are now located on Emerald.
They can still be found on weekdays at 7pm MST running their little groups, and welcome most anyone looking for a fun hour or two.
It was founded on December 12th, 2018, and will continue until the servers shut down.

12-12-2018 - 4/1/2019
DGia is formed and grows to an enormous number as the de facto leader DimGiant expands the group as quickly as possible, streaming the game 6-8 hours a day, six days a week. He forces himself into the community with the subtly of a premature nuclear explosion and causes great deals of drama, justifying his actions with the idea of 'saving Planetside'. The result is a breathtakingly massive, chaotic, and sometimes fun group of lunatics. Over time, DGia is established as an occasionally cohesive force with a unified culture on the server. The Development team gives Dim access to an observer camera to further his work on youtube videos related to the game. In April, the DX11 update drops and a huge population spike occurs, leading Dim to declare "Planetside Saved" and significantly scale back streaming to focus on other priorities.
4/1/2019 -4/1/2021
DGia grows at a significantly reduced pace in the absence of the daily 6-8 hour twitch streams, until it peaks at 1,200 active users. Eventually, the number of players listed causes external websites tracking outfit numbers to crash, and slows down the in-game outfit UI. DimGiant reduces the group by 1,000 inactive players and slightly eases the issue. Outfit wars sparks attempts to create DGia's first specialized group of infiltrators and an air corps with mixed success. The 'Leetfit' is formed, making up DGia's best players, and actually starts having an impact during alerts. In response to staffing changes within the game's development team, Dim forms the Planetside Project in the hopes of shoring up support for proliferating the game through advertising. The group ends up sharing assets and resources, becoming a small boon to the artistic community.
4/1/2021 - the present
Dim brings back the twitch stream on a *very* limited basis, infuses new life into the Planetside Project with higher stakes art competitions and free dogtags bearing the insignias of all four factions on Planetside 2. The outfit's members band together, and the culture shifts towards being more positive and cooperative with the rest of the planetside community.
The outfit is open to all, provided general civility is maintained, and goodwill towards others.
