The Ectoblaster is a sidearm produced by Nanite Systems, available to all factions as part of the Common Pool. It is temporarily unlocked for the duration of the Nanite of the Living Dead event upon completion of the Adept tier of the Halloween VIII directive.
The Ectoblaster is an unusual sidearm. With its function most comparable to that of the Lasher X2, the Ectoblaster is a relatively forgiving weapon with a damage output that—while comparatively low to many other sidearms—still allows it to pose a threat to enemy infantry. Besides the weapon's moderately large projectiles and splash damage, the Ectoblaster also features a heat-based ammo pool allowing it to be used without resupply.
The weapon is limited in two ways—aiming with the weapon is not possible, limiting it solely to its hip-fire accuracy, and it features a reduced 1.5x headshot multiplier reducing the weapon's relative power in the hands of a skilled user.

Heat[]
- Main article: Heat
The Ectoblaster features a heat-based ammunition pool, in lieu of the standard magazine-based ammo system most infantry weapons use. Heat functions via a meter that fills when firing the weapon, and dissipates when not in use.
The blaster has a heat capacity of 1999, generates 100 heat per shot, and has a recovery delay of 0.75 seconds. It dissipates 750 heat per second, and incurs an overheat penalty of 0.75 seconds.
This gives the weapon an effective magazine size of 20 rounds, reloading at a rate of 7.5 rounds per second after not being fired for 0.75 seconds. An overheated Ectoblaster takes approximately 4.16 seconds to cool.
