In PlanetSide 2, which empire the player decides on means a lot more than just what color armor they wear. Each of these empires is iconic and has access to unique weapons, attachments, vehicles, abilities, and more. In choosing an Empire, the player is really choosing a play-style that will mold their character throughout their lifetime.

With PlanetSide 2, SOE also reset the PlanetSide lore. Rather than a sequel, PlanetSide 2 (PS2) is a re-envisioning, or more accurately a re-imagining, of the original PlanetSide. This was ultimately done to bring more depth and focus on to the story of what Auraxis is, how humanity discovered it, how they were stranded there, and ultimately how all hell broke loose and the epic unending battle for supremacy began.
