Forward Vanguard Shield is a utility ability available to the Vanguard. It is unlocked and upgraded using Certification Points.
While active, a Forward Vanguard Shield applies a protective shield to the tank, increasing frontal armor by 67% and side armor by 34%, reducing the damage the vehicle takes from targets located in those quadrants relative to the Vanguard.
The rear and bottom armor of the vehicle are unaffected by this utility. The shield can sustain as much damage as the Vanguard has health while the module is active, and the ability will only deactivate once the eight second duration has elapsed or if the driver exits the vehicle.
To use this utility, press the Use Ability hotkey (F by default).
Damage Resistance[]
While the Vanguard is protected by a forward Vanguard shield, the tank's armor values are increased with the tank, barring damage received from the rear or below the vehicle, receiving greatly reduced damage.
With the vehicles' directional armor values taken into account, the following values are the percentages by which the damage received by the Vanguard is decreased (or in the case of negatives, increased) both normally, and while the shield is active.

It can be noted, in the case of the side armor, that the armor provided by a Forward Vanguard Shield is simply directly added to the directional armor value of that part of the tank.

- Instead of adding an additional health pool upon activation, the shield will now decrease the damage from top and front by 67%, and from the sides by 34% for a short time.
