The NSX Amaterasu is a melee weapon produced by Nanite Systems, available to all factions. It is unlocked through purchase with Certification Points or Daybreak Cash.
The Amaterasu is a unique knife variant. While it deals 50 less damage on-hit than standard knives, it is the only melee weapon with access to a ranged attack, which is permanently enabled while the knife is wielded. Whenever swung while held in-hand, a wave-shaped projectile is emitted forward from the knife capable of damaging the first target hit for up to the normal damage of the knife, suffering steep damage fall-off at range. This wave can travel up to 15 meters before disappearing.
Enemies within normal knife range are instantly hit for the weapon's normal damage instead, as expected, and quick melee attacks do not emit the wave.
To quick melee with this weapon, press the Melee Attack hotkey (
by default) while holding any other weapon. To equip this weapon for wielded melee, press the Equip Melee hotkey (- by default).
Damage Fall-off[]
This weapon's projectiles cannot reach its minimum damage range. Reflecting this, only the weapon's "true" minimum damage is described below.

Ribbons and Medals[]
It is possible to earn both Ribbons and Medals while using the NSX Amaterasu. Each ribbon is a standard reward for achieving a set amount of kills with the weapon. Medals are awarded upon reaching kill milestones with the weapon.
