This platinum variant of the NSX Tanto is a powerful, lightweight carbine which combines precision with versatility, and is most effective in short bursts.
The Nanite Systems Export Tanto is an interesting variation on the typical carbine formula. Rather than focusing primarily on close-quarters combat with high damage-per-second, the Tanto instead fully prioritizes excellent accuracy at all ranges through low recoil and, more importantly, a perfect cone-of-fire in all stances (except airborne) allowing the weapon's first shot to go precisely where the crosshair is placed.
This accuracy-above-all-else mantra does come at a heavy cost, with the Tanto having amongst the lowest damage-per-second of any weapon in the entire game, though the weapon's ammunition pool is much larger than weapons with the same magazine size, allowing it to stay on the field longer without resupply.
Many soldiers choose Nanite Systems' popular Illuminated Combat Optic series over stock iron sights for superior target acquisition in both close quarters and low-light situations. More reticles for this sight available, see full article.
The weapon's muzzle flash and noise generation is reduced, and the player no longer appears on the minimap when firing. In exchange, the weapon's damage falls off 20 meters sooner and bullet velocity is reduced by 15%.
The rail mounted Darklight Flashlight can illuminate hostile cloaked infiltrators and dark areas but the light can give away your position. The light can be turned on and off with Toggle Attachment hotkey.
High Velocity Ammunition increases the weapon's projectile velocity by 10% and minimum damage range by 20 meters, but reduces the weapon's maximum damage range by 2 meters.
It is possible to earn both Ribbons and Medals while using the NSX Tanto. Each ribbon is a standard reward for achieving a set amount of kills with the carbine. Medals are awarded upon reaching kill milestones with the weapon.
Dev Note: The excessive hipfire penalty on the Tanto was originally meant to offset its higher-than-normal starting accuracy, but we've peeled that penalty back as it has enough counterbalances elsewhere.
