The NS Scorpion is an Rocket Launcher produced by Nanite Systems, available to all factions. It is unlocked through purchase with Certification Points or Daybreak Cash.
The NS Scorpion is a unique rocket launcher, firing a slow-travelling missile that is capable of exploding into six separate bomblets. Unlike most rocket launchers, the Scorpion cannot be fired from the hip, and instead must be charged and fired while aiming down the scope, through which the arming distance of the explosion can be set.
Attempting to fire the Scorpion will instead charge up a meter found on the right-side of the scope, signifying the range at which the rocket will detonate. The trigger must be held for this process. The NS Scorpion must be charged to have at least a 40 meter arming distance before it can be fired by releasing the trigger.
The Scorpion charges 50 meters of arming distance per second, and can be charged up to a maximum arming distance of 200 meters, at which point the launcher will automatically fire. Leaving the scope will cancel the charge-up process without firing a missile.
Bomblet Stats[]
The following information was gleaned through in-game testing, and thus may be inaccurate. Stats of a notably higher accuracy will not be available until the Census API is updated.
The Scorpion releases six bomblets upon detonation, each dealing 450 damage for a potential total of 2700 damage on a direct hit. Bomblets use the infantry rocket launchers resist.
Scorpion bomblets interact with directional armor in a unique way. Unlike other weaponry, Scorpion bomblets use the detonation point of the Scorpion's rocket to determine their origin, rather than the player that fired the rocket, allowing the bomblets to hit a different directional armor point than would be expected from the player's location.
Ribbons and Medals[]
It is possible to earn both Ribbons and Medals while using the NS Scorpion. Each ribbon is a standard reward for achieving a set amount of kills with the rocket launcher. Medals are awarded upon reaching kill milestones with the weapon.

Trivia[]
- Upon release on May 19, 2021, the NS Scorpion was unavailable to purchase until the Planetside 18th Anniversary event began the following day. However, it was still possible to equip in VR Training or trial it, thereby allowing players to use the weapon before it was intended to be available.
History[]
- May 19, 2021 Update (PlanetSide Legacy)
- Added to the game.
- “The NS Scorpion rocket launcher fires a distance-detonated airburst that rains explosive bomblets upon enemy infantry and vehicles below. This weapon will require the user to learn the feel and timing of each shot, and has a high skill cap to get the most use out of it.”
