Nanite Mesh Generator is an ability available to the Heavy Assault. It is unlocked and upgraded using Certification Points.
When activated, the nanite mesh generator applies a damage absorption overshield to the user which consumes energy to absorb an equal amount of damage, using the user's own resists to dictate damage received. The shield can absorb up to 450 damage from any source, based on its energy stores, or otherwise drains naturally over 36 seconds while active. In exchange, the shield slows the user by 25% while active.
While the overshield is active, the player's health and personal shield cannot passively regenerate.
To activate this ability, press the Use Ability hotkey (F by default).
Effects[]
The Nanite Mesh Generator has a capacity of 450 energy and regenerates between 15 and 22.5 energy per second while not in use, with a 3000ms (3 second) delay incurred before regeneration begins if the shield's energy is emptied. Activating the overshield immediately consumes 10 energy before burning 12.5 energy per second.
In simple terms, this means the overshield can typically sustain up to 440 damage thanks to the activation penalty, lasting up to 35.2 seconds if no damage is taken, and regenerates passively in between 30 and 20 seconds, based on the rank of the ability.
Similar to the Adrenaline Shield, the Nanite Mesh Generator is subject to the most of the same damage modifiers as the user. It will sustain additional damage from headshots, less from legshots, and will receive less damage if the user is enjoying damage reduction effects such as the Flak Armor suit. Nanoweave Armor, specifically, will not have its damage reduction effects applied to overshields, however.
As with other overshields, the Nanite Mesh Generator also reduces the user's base movement speed by 25% by active. Assuming the user has the standard movement speed of 4m/s, this reduces their movement speed to 3m/s. This does not affect crouch, strafe/backpedal, or sprint modifiers, which continue to multiply the user's current movement speed by 0.5x, 0.75x, and 1.625x, respectively.

- Though the description of rank 1 states the recharge time to be 31 seconds, a true regeneration rate of 15 energy per second causes the shield to regenerate in only 30 seconds.
