The Neutralizer Device was a tactical slot tool available to all non-MAX classes. It is unlocked for free in Sanctuary, after the completion of A Job Well Done.
The Neutralizer Device was a specialized tool for use on vehicles affected by Tempest, a volatile energy unleashed onto Esamir as a result of the calamity. The tool's ability to neutralize Tempest could be used to reclaim derelict vehicles. Additionally, the tool was able to drain a small amount of ability energy from enemy players when used on them.
Prior to the construction of the Containment Sites, the device was used to neutralize the build-up of Tempest energy on vehicles that were inside of one of Esamir's electrical storms.
Effects[]
The Neutralizer Device could be used in three different ways, dependent on the target of the device.
Vehicle Reclamation[]

After the calamity on Esamir, vehicles of all kinds were left derelict and unusable thanks to the energies released from the Shattered Warpgate. These vehicles appear in areas near the Shattered Warpgate, as well as near bases turned offline after the event.
Using the Neutralizer Device on these vehicles 'reclaimed' them, removing the latent energies from the vehicle and allowing it to be used again. Most types of vehicle could be found abandoned and subsequently reclaimed this way, including main battle tanks of opposing factions.
All reclaimed vehicles had access to the Discharge ability, allowing them to sacrifice a small amount of health to damage all enemies in an area around themselves, as well as to disperse their current Tempest overload.
Ability Drain[]
The Neutralizer Device could be used on players to drain a small amount of their ability energy over time.
Tempest Overload[]
When a vehicle was within one of the electrical storms on Esamir, it began to build up Tempest energy. Once the vehicle's overload meter reached 100, the vehicle was immediately struck by a highly damaging lightning bolt.
Using the Neutralizer Device on friendly vehicles within an electrical storm reversed the progress of the Tempest overload meter, allowing the vehicle to survive longer without receiving massive damage from the storm.
With the construction of the Containment Sites, the electrical storm no longer appears on Esamir and this function is unusable.

- This item was initially acquired from Buried Beneath the Snow, an event in Chapter 1 of the Shattered Warpgate campaign. It was later made available for free at the end of Chapter 3.
- Players who owned this item, regardless of source, lost access to it at the end of the campaign.
