The PDW-16 Hailstorm is a submachine gun available to the Terran Republic. It is unlocked through purchase with Certification Points or Daybreak Cash.

The PDW-16 Hailstorm is a relatively simple side-grade to the SMG-46 Armistice. Sacrificing a large chunk of the Armistice's iconic rate-of-fire for magazine capacity, the Hailstorm is more capable of taking extended engagements than the Armistice, especially considering its reload time is no slower than its brother, however the weapon's damage deficit definitely challenges this strength.

The PDW-16 Hailstorm, alongside the Icon NC.png Blitz GD-10 and Icon VS.png Sirius SX12, is part of the so-called 'second generation' of submachine guns, as the three were the second wave of faction-specific weapons to be released in the class.

Barrel Attachments
Suppressor The weapon's muzzle flash and noise generation is reduced, and the player no longer appears on the minimap when firing. In exchange, the weapon's damage falls off 20 meters sooner, and bullet velocity is reduced by 15%.

Hailstorm or Armistice?[edit | edit source]

Both are excellent in CQC, but the differences do start to show with the Hailstorm having a lower rate of fire and large magazine, while the Armistice having a much higher rate of fire and smaller magazine. The SMG-46 Armistice reward those who can land their shots on the target as it's magazine practically evaporates after a few seconds, while the Hailstorm rewards those who can take advantage of its continuous stream of bullets. Both SMGs cost the same, at 1000 certs, or 700 Station Cash.

Ribbons and Medals[edit | edit source]

It is possible to get both Ribbons and Medals for using the PDW-16 Hailstorm. Each Ribbon is a standard reward for achieving a set amount of kills with the Hailstorm. Medals relate to how many overall kills you have with the Hailstorm.
