The Rocklet Rifle is a tool available to the Light Assault. It is unlocked by default.

The Rocklet Rifle is a unique 'mini rocket launcher', referred to as an aerial combat weapon, that provides the light assault with a reliable option with which it can threaten light enemy aircraft with dumbfired proximity-fused rocklets. Rocklets are also capable of dealing moderate damage to ground vehicles and MAXes, and retains 100% of its typical accuracy while the light assault is midair.

The rifle is loaded with ACE rocklets by default, dealing moderate damage with anti-air flak capability and balanced flight characteristics. These can be swapped out for Sabot rocklets or Typhoon rocklets with the appropriate attachment, either increasing damage or ranged accuracy, each at the expense of the other.

Although it has no lock-on functionality, the Rocklet Rifle's capabilties while loaded with ACE rocklets are best compared to faction-specific anti-ground lock-on rocket launchers, with which it shares its damage-per-magazine against ground vehicles.

The Rocklet Rifle fires one rocklet whenever the Fire key (Left Mouse Button by default) is pressed. In lieu of an aiming function, pressing the Aim key (Right Mouse Button by default) will quickly fire the entire magazine, at great loss of accuracy.

Ammo Types[]

ACE Rocklet[]

ACE Rocklets

The ACE Rocklet is a rocklet available to the Rocklet Rifle. It is loaded by default.

Armor-piercing Contained Explosive rocklets are a balanced rocklet type. They feature good velocity and gravity values, dealing 125 damage-per-rocklet. ACE rocklets feature a proximity-fused explosive, causing them to detonate to deal flak damage when passing within five meters of hostile aircraft.

Sabot Rocklet[]

Sabot Rocklets

The Sabot Rocklet is a rocklet available to the Rocklet Rifle. It is unlocked through purchase with Certification Points or Daybreak Cash.

Sabot rocklets are a long-range, high accuracy rocklet. In exchange for a reduction in damage, down to 110 damage-per-rocklet, Sabot rocklets feature vastly improved velocity and gravity values and they replace the rifle's alternate fire with a quick and accurate three-round burst.

Typhoon Rocklet[]

Typhoon Rocklets

The Typhoon Rocklet is a rocklet available to the Rocklet Rifle. It is unlocked through purchase with Certification Points or Daybreak Cash.

Typhoon rocklets are close-range, high damage rocklets. Suffering large penalties to velocity and gravity, Typhoon rocklets instead deal notably increased damage—an increase to 140 damage-per-rocklet. Typhoon rocklets lose access to the proximity-fuse found on the other rocklet types, greatly reducing the rifle's effectiveness in anti-air—though this penalty means that any rocklets that do directly hit an aircraft will deal incredibly high damage.

Locklets[]

The Locklet was a rocklet available to the Rocklet Rifle. It was unlocked through purchase with Certification Points or Daybreak Cash.

Locklets were dedicated anti-vehicle rocklets, sacrificing both their dumbfire and 'mag-dump- capability in exchange for the ability to lock onto hostile ground and air vehicles out to 150 meters, with a 2.5 second lock-on timer. Due to the loss of the alternate fire ability, the incredibly long lock-on timer, and the relatively short range, locklets saw little use and were replaced with Sabot rocklets in the June 17, 2020 Update, with previous owners of the attachment receiving the new rocklet.

Ribbons and Medals[]

It is possible to earn both Ribbons and Medals while using the Rocklet Rifle. Each ribbon is a standard reward for achieving a set amount of kills with the aerial combat weapon. Medals are awarded upon reaching kill milestones with the weapon.

History[]

  • December 15, 2016 Update
    • Added to the live game.
  • December 22, 2016 Hotfix
    • Added tooltip to notify players that Typhoon and Locklet rocklets will not purchase cross-faction.
    • Players who purchased these items with DBC prior to this update will receive grants and refunds at a later date.
    • Default Rocklet proximity detonate distance from 2.5m to 5m
    • Typhoon Rocklet impact audio has been updated
    • Typhoon Rocklet projectile drag from 0.25 to 0
    • Typhoon Rocklet projectile gravity from 1 to 2
    • Locklet lockon time from 3sec. to 2.5sec.
  • February 2, 2017 Update
    • Removed smoke from default Rocklet Rifle projectiles.
    • Fixed Typhoon Rocklets projectile visibility and adjusted effects.
  • June 17, 2020 Update (Enter: Colossus)
    • Locklets have been replaced with Sabot Rocklets.
    • Sabot Rocklets sacrifice damage for increased accuracy at range. When equipped, alternate fire is replaced with a low-bloom 3-round burst, and projectile velocity is increased for both firemodes.
    • Dev Note: Reload speed increases no longer affect the Rocklet Rifle in unintended ways (ie. hyper reload speeds.) A consequence of this fix was that Typhoon Rocklet implementation had to be reworked (though players should see no gameplay impact,) and Locklets had to be replaced as an option.
