The Spitfire Auto-Turret is a deployable turret available to the Engineer.
It is unlockable by all factions and can be built in place of the MANA Anti-Infantry or Anti-Vehicle turrets. When it detects an enemy within 50 meters, it will immediately make a very audible beeping noise, then, after a delay, begin firing at them. It has a full 360 degrees of motion on all axes, meaning that it will attempt to shoot enemies even if they're above or below it.
Despite its relatively low damage and health, the Spitfire can be invaluable in locking down an area, as it will slowly chip away at its target, forcing them to either destroy the turret or hide from its view. The loud noise it produces can also alert its owner and their teammates to an enemy's presence, making it a decent detection tool.
The Decoy Grenade can fool the Spitfire's aiming system, causing it to fire aimlessly in the direction of the grenade until it expires, and EMP Grenades can disable the turret for a short time. An Infiltrator may hack a Spitfire Turret at any time to gain control of it, but distracting or disabling it first is advised.
The turret cannot track vehicles, but can nevertheless deal low damage to a Flash, Harasser, ESF or Valkyrie.
After firing 15 shots at a target, the turret will stop firing and re-acquire a new one. Once a target is acquired, the turret's awareness angle is reduced, allowing a hostile infiltrator to easily hack the turret. It is thus best to place it where it is visible, yet hard to reach without triggering it. Be wary of cloaked Infiltrators and enemies equipped with the Avoidance implant; they are untargetable, and can easily slip by unnoticed.

The Aux Spitfire was an alternate version of the Spitfire Auto-Turret that was available to all non-MAX classes. It was purchaseble from Merit vendors in Sanctuary.
Unlike the normal Spitfire, only 2 could be carried at a time, and could be resupplied using Merit at Equipment Terminals. The Aux Spitfire filled a new Tactical slot, which in the case of the Engineer, didn't replace other ACE deployables.
It was eventually replaced by the Ordnance Dampener in a future patch.History[]
- August 15, 2018 Update
- No longer has limited usage, and instead is cooldown based.
- Upgrading this turret now reduces its cooldown (from a base of 35) by 5/10/15 seconds.
- April 29, 2020 Update
- Spitfire and Auxiliary Spitfire Turrets can no longer be stacked on one another, and the minimum placement distance has been increased slightly.
- June 17, 2020 Update
- We've replaced the Aux Spitfire with the Ordnance Dampener tactical slot equipment.
