The TSAR-42 is a sniper rifle available to the Terran Republic. It is unlocked through purchase with Certification Points or Daybreak Cash.

The TSAR-42 is the close-quarters option in the Terran bolt-action arsenal Unlike other bolt-action rifles, the TSAR-42 does not include an integrated scope, allowing users to equip optics typically reserved for standard weaponry in its place, and the weapon features a faster chamber time.

However, these perks come at the cost of effectiveness at range, with the TSAR-42 having steep damage fall-off and a lower velocity, plus no access to high magnification (6x and higher) scopes.

The TSAR-42, Icon VS.png Ghost, and Icon NC.png SAS-R are statistically identical.

Damage Fall-Off[]

The two intermediate ranges listed are the ranges at which two bodyshots or one headshot, respectively, no longer kill a standard infantry target.

  • 700 before 10 meters
  • 500 at 180 meters
  • 477 at 200 meters
  • 400 after 265 meters

Trivia[]

  • In honor of player Mentis, who has scored just under 300,000 kills with the rifle, a TSAR-42 was placed up against a tree to the south of Peris Amp Station. Interacting (E by default) with the rifle will show the following message.
    • A battle-worn sniper rifle of Terran design rests peacefully against the tree. The weapon is scored innumerably with the wielder's kill tally, and it's clear this soldier ran out of space to record. In the metallic pommel of the weapon grip you see large letters scratched into the paint: "MENTIS"
