The Ascent is a Large Outpost on Amerish. It is the center-most facility of Amerish, designated as the continent's 'extremely-valuable base.' The three capture points are: A, the southern caves, B, a gazebo at the northeast end of the base, and C, a cliffside platform with a small building in the northwest.
Due to the limited number of roads onto and off of the mountaintop, constructing bases nearby to serve as staging areas is not unheard of. The eastern road to Raven Landing in particular is an appealing spot for a roadblock. The mountaintop meadow south and uphill from the road to Lithcorp Central is also a popular spot for setting up a base with an Orbital Strike relay to bombard The Ascent itself in rapid succession or to deter attacks on its lattice linked facilities. The last turn of the northern mountain road east of the Sunderer garage is yet another often-used location for an outlying player base. Using a Routing Spire from one of these bases is also not unheard of. Deploying a router into the rafters above A in particular can be very difficult to counter during a battle.
Teleporters[]
The only true teleporters at The Ascent are the ones in the main watchtower structure, and go between areas with quick access to vehicle terminals as they do in other facilities with this structure. However, The Ascent has a plethora of jump pads to launch infantry from one area of the base to another.
Most of the jump pads are along the northern cliff edge and provide rapid transport from the Sunderer garage in the northeast to the northernmost platforms at the west, with a stop in the middle. There are three additional jump pads to get off of the top of the mountain.
- The one north of the tower is a one-way jump to a distant vehicle spawn terminal on the switchback to Rockslide Outlook, useful for quick escapes for attackers or for cheeky defenders wanting to flank the Sunderer garage with vehicular support.
- The one in the northwest goes directly to the upper platform of Rockslide Outlook and has a jump pads at its destination for access to that base's vehicle terminal or returning to The Ascent. It can be useful for attacking said base if The Ascent is already secure, and offers Infiltrators a cluster of often-neglected AA and AT Phalanx Turrets to hack. Conversely, attacking The Ascent from the north has a guaranteed spawn point that can use these jump pads to get from Rockslide Outlook to the platforms north of C within just a few seconds of spawning.
- Finally, there is a two-way jump pad down some stairs south of C to a platform on a footpath that also leads to the upper area of Rockslide Outlook and the road to LithCorp Central. Early in an assault from the west, when the road is not yet safe enough to drive a Sunderer up to park nearer to the C point, this is a less risky option for deploying an armored spawn point for attackers. It can easily become a choke point and a grisly clay pigeon shooting range if defenders catch onto this. It is highly recommended to put Spitfire Auto-Turrets and anti-infantry mines at either end.
Phalanx Turrets[]
The Ascent's watchtower is only equipped with anti-infantry turrets on its lower level. This can make breaking a siege by a formation of enemy armor difficult. It is otherwise equipped as standard, with AA turrets on the upper level.
