The VE-LR Obelisk is a scout rifle available to the Vanu Sovereignty. It is unlocked through purchase with Certification Points or Daybreak Cash.
The Vanu Esamir - Long Rifle Obelisk is a scout rifle released alongside the MG-HBR1 Dragoon and MGR-M1 Bishop as part of a series of new empire specific weapons. Each seeks to add fresh flavour to the neglected battle rifle selection, providing a highly accurate long-range platform with access to unique attachments and mechanics. For the Obelisk, this is the weapon's heat-based ammunition, alongside Manual Calibration and Safety Override.
Thanks to the Obelisk's heat mechanic it has far superior staying power to all other battle rifles. Not only does it have an infinite amount of ammo in reserve, the rifle will also automatically "reload" while the user is not firing. In tense situations, having extra rounds in your battery without needing to leave yourself open to reload can be the difference between survival and death.

Heat[]
- Main article: Weapon Mechanics#Heat
The VE-LR Obelisk uses a heat-based ammo pool, in contrast to the standard magazine-based ammo system most infantry weaponry uses. Heat provides a meter that fills upon firing, and dissipates when not firing.
The Obelisk has a heat capacity of 6000, generates 1000 heat per shot, and has a recovery delay of 0.4 seconds. It dissipates 3000 heat per second, and incurs an overheat penalty of 3 seconds.
Manually reloading the Obelisk is possible, though takes 3 seconds. Unlike most other heat-based weaponry, the Obelisk will be forced to reload when it incurs the overheat penalty, meaning an overheat takes 3 seconds rather than 5 seconds (3 seconds delay + 2 seconds of recovery). It also means the weapon must be reloaded, and will not cool when not equipped.
Damage Fall-off[]
- 334 at all ranges.
