The VE-LR Obelisk is a scout rifle available to the Vanu Sovereignty. It is unlocked through purchase with Certification Points or Daybreak Cash.

The Vanu Esamir - Long Rifle Obelisk is a scout rifle released alongside the MG-HBR1 Dragoon and MGR-M1 Bishop as part of a series of new empire specific weapons. Each seeks to add fresh flavour to the neglected battle rifle selection, providing a highly accurate long-range platform with access to unique attachments and mechanics. For the Obelisk, this is the weapon's heat-based ammunition, alongside Manual Calibration and Safety Override.

Thanks to the Obelisk's heat mechanic it has far superior staying power to all other battle rifles. Not only does it have an infinite amount of ammo in reserve, the rifle will also automatically "reload" while the user is not firing. In tense situations, having extra rounds in your battery without needing to leave yourself open to reload can be the difference between survival and death.

Optic
Corona IR

49 OR 30
The Corona Infrared optic has no magnification, but highlights nearby targets to aid the shooter in low-light scenarios.
Lyra R1 (1x)

29 OR 30
Lyra's open diamond reflex sight gives Sovereignty soldiers clear vision on close range targets without reducing awareness of flanking threats.
More reticles for this sight available, see full article.
Lyra R2 (2x)

29 OR 30
The enhanced zoom Lyra reflect provides clear vision in close engagements, and enough magnification to retain precision at medium range.
More reticles for this sight available, see full article.
Corona O3.4 (3.4x)

29 OR 30
The Corona O3.4 is a magnified target acquisition optic suited to open-field combat.
More reticles for this scope available, see full article.
Corona O4 (4x)

Built-in
If no optic is chosen, this scope is attached. Alternate reticles must still be purchased.

29 OR 30
The Corona O4 uses a slightly stronger magnification than its 3.4x prdecessor, and simplifies target acquisition at mid to long range.
More reticles for this scope available, see full article.
VE Hourglass (6x)

29 OR 30
The Hourglass' 6x magnification and mil-dot sighting for long distance engagements..
Barrel
Enhanced Plasma Containment

49 OR 100
A flash suppressor makes the shooter less visible to the enemy, but increases the range at which you appear on enemy minimaps by 15 meters.
Rail
Comfort Grip

49 OR 100
A comfort grip reduces the time it takes to swap to the weapon by 30%, reduces horizontal recoil by 20%, but increases vertical recoil by 20%.
Darklight Flashlight

49 OR 100
The rail mounted Darklight Flashlight can illuminate hostile cloaked infiltrators and dark areas but the light can give away your position.
The light can be turned on and off with Toggle Attachment hotkey.
Manual Calibration

49 OR 100
Increases the minimum number of shots before overheat by 4, but reduces the rate at which the weapon passively cools by 25%.
Safety Override

49 OR 100
Allows for automatic firing from the hip and reduces hipfire cone of fire by 25%. When in this state, your rate of fire is also doubled and heat per shot and damage per bullet is cut in half.
Ammo
Unstable Ammunition

49 OR 100
Unstable Ammunition significantly increases the size of projectiles fired while reducing headshot bonus damage by 80%.

Heat[]

Main article: Weapon Mechanics#Heat

The VE-LR Obelisk uses a heat-based ammo pool, in contrast to the standard magazine-based ammo system most infantry weaponry uses. Heat provides a meter that fills upon firing, and dissipates when not firing.

The Obelisk has a heat capacity of 6000, generates 1000 heat per shot, and has a recovery delay of 0.4 seconds. It dissipates 3000 heat per second, and incurs an overheat penalty of 3 seconds.

Manually reloading the Obelisk is possible, though takes 3 seconds. Unlike most other heat-based weaponry, the Obelisk will be forced to reload when it incurs the overheat penalty, meaning an overheat takes 3 seconds rather than 5 seconds (3 seconds delay + 2 seconds of recovery). It also means the weapon must be reloaded, and will not cool when not equipped.

Damage Fall-off[]

  • 334 at all ranges.
